WXMD running on backup transmitter

Our main transmitter finally did fail, so, thanks to the team their at WXMD, we are running on the backup transmitter now.   The main unit has been sent to the manufacturer for them to debug what went wrong inside.  It's very heavy.  Our CE and team pulled each individual power supply out, marked their location and packed them separately.   How long it will take is a good quesiton, but we don't have the answer to yet.  

Meanwhile, we are on the air at about 61% normal power.

WXMD transmitter is down

Our transmitter is currently down at WXMD.   We are aware and will be working on it!  

WXMD back to full power

The transmitter issue is resolved and we are back to full power at WXMD now.   Thanks for your patience!    

WXMD backup transmitter activated - back on air

The backup transmitter at WXMD is on the air now.    Its not quite the power output of the main transmitter, but it will hardly be noticed.  Meanwhile we are waiting to hear from support.   Thanks for yuor patience.

WXMD took a failure Monday night at 7:56PM      We are heading over to the site.  

WXMD has been repaired and is at full power.

I forgot to update this section!    We had a great work day at WXMD.   It is fully operational at high power.  

WXMD will be off the air for good part of day

Tuesday, February 17th, 2026

WXMD 89.7 FM has tower climbers on site and our team of George, Paul and Tim.   The signal will be shut down when tower climbers get near the antenna, so as to protect the climbers.   Return here for more status later in day.  

WXMD work towards end of week - 2/12 or 2/13

We plan to replace our damaged antenna on either Thursday or Friday of this week.   During that time that climbers are on the tower we will have to shut power down to zero.   Expect an announcement in Southern Maryland over WXMD with details.

All stations will be seeing lots of weather Saturday Night throuhg Sunday night.   We expect power outages.  So please take precautions to prepare now,
